Gut Health
Your gut is incredibly unique.
Think of it like a fingerprint; what’s inside your gut is entirely distinct to you.
Science is now discovering how much of our health is rooted within the digestive system, from our mental wellbeing to the health of our skin; much of this holds a unique interplay with the gut.
Did you know that 70% of the immune system is known to reside within the gut? This is just one of the incredible facts about our digestive tract.
When our gut goes out of kilter, we can run into an array of different health problems. I know this all too well, after suffering with IBS during my early twenties.
IBS is a syndrome known to affect 20% of the UK population (that’s 1 in 5 of us!). It is a cluster of different symptoms that can vary from abdominal cramps to bloating, gas, constipation and diarrhoea. Patients may report just one of these symptoms, or multiple, which can vary on a daily basis.
What makes the problem so difficult is that it can flare up so suddenly, and it makes eating become a chore as you try to unravel the various trigger foods that are contributing to your symptoms.
I believe that the gut plays such a critical role in wellbeing and I work with clients to support them with their digestive health. This might involve dietary approaches or functional laboratory testing if this is needed.
Ultimately, I am here to educate you towards better gut health…
